Services Overview

We offer the facility of cultivating, leveling and raking off areas of bare ground in preparation to supply and sow quality grass seed. Should you wish to turf an area we can undertake the same cultivation process and supply and lay good quality lawn turf. As with paving the success of a lawn depends very much upon its preparation.

Turfing / Seeding

There are a vast variety of paving products on the market today but whichever a customer chooses it must be laid on a properly constructed base to ensure its longevity and durability. Here at Lovedale Gardens we ensure all our paving has a substantial sub base. We will not cut corners as we want our work to stand the test of time and for us to gain the long term recommendation from satisfied customers.

Paving / Patios

Should you have a completely overgrown garden / site we can offer the facility to clear and dispose of all green waste be it, brambles, shrubs, conifers and trees up to 6m in height. We will also come and cut hedges etc as an all day / one off job but we do not offer a regular gardening service.

Garden Clearance

Should you have a gravel drive which needs some TLC  we can reduce the surface if it has become compacted, dispose of the waste material and supply and lay new gravel. Alternately we can lift and re set curb edging or extend an area to allow for a turning point.

Gravel Drives / Pathways

Again there are many different styles of block paving but like paving / patios the success of block paving depends on the correct foundation. Another key factor in block paving is a strong edge restraint. Should an area have a poorly constructed or insufficient edge it will not be long before the paving starts to move / fail. Customers should also take into account drainage facilities and planning restrictions will apply if an area discharges onto the highway. 

Block Paving

We provide a full range of fencing services from post and rail paddock type fencing, timber panel and post, concrete slotted posts with drop in panels or close board / feather edge fencing on either timber or concrete posts. We can also supply and fit timber hand gates including getting them made to a particular size.  We do not undertake any metal fencing. Should you wish we can also supply and install larger hardwood gate posts for driveway gates. 

Fencing / Gates

We can provide scaled drawings of gardens to show the extent and content of proposed works or provide ideas / inspiration to create that special area you long for. Depending on the scale of a project the level of design input will vary greatly. Often a problem area can be solved by a simple scaled sketch and conversation where larger projects could involve many hours of work setting out levels, selecting and quantifying materials, selecting and locating plants, all in conjunction with consideration to site conditions, aspect, slopes, client brief, planning conditions etc. 

Garden Design

Should you need have the need for a small digger or minor groundwork we would be happy to supply you with a quote for the work. Our digger will fit through a standard sized doorway with ease and can squeeze down to a width of 750mm. Getting this type of equipment into a job can potentially save many hours of hand work and £££’s. We however do not supply the digger on its own it has to be on a driver / machine cost basis.

Mini Digger work / small groundworks

Lovedale Gardens can provide and plant a wide variety of trees and shrubs to suit your requirements be it a tree 5m tall or an herbaceous plant 5cm tall. As we obtain our plants through a commercial nursery we can provide substantial cost savings compared to Garden Centre / retail prices. As with Paving, Lawns, Block paving etc the successful establishment of plants depends heavily on the ground conditions present. Therefore it pays to get good advice and plan your planting at an early stage. Other factors influencing plant establishment can be the handling, age, quality and species of the plants involved. For larger quantities of plants it maybe worth your while considering winter planting when many native species of hedging and trees can be obtained more cheaply as bare root plants as opposed to pot grown / container grown plants.
